Myth
The internet is for people with money. I hear
about
E-commerce all the time, but I don't even have
a credit
card. I can't participate in that kind of thing.
Fact
Though commerce does
flourish on the Net, there are
plenty of free things
to do. The internet can be used to
find out about important
services, voice your opinions,
talk to people from all
over the world, or just have fun!
Myth
Alright, I understand that there's a lot
to do on the
internet, but it's just too complicated for
me to
understand. I'll never learn how to get around!
Fact
This web site contains
enough information to make you
internet savvy. Just
look around it to learn how to do
almost anything you
want to do.
Myth
Ok, so there is free stuff out there. But
I want to have
my own web page. I know that that's not free.
Fact
There are places where
you can get your own web
page. Just see the
links on this site to go to them and
learn more about how
to construct them.
Myth
To do the cool stuff, like set up a web page
or get
email, I have to have my own computer.
Fact
There are places to
get free email that you can access
from any computer.
And web pages can be built from
anywhere, if you know
how. And this site teaches you!
Myth
If I go on the internet, people will be able
to track me
and get information about me that I don't
want them to
have. BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING ME!!!
Fact
You can use the internet
while remaining anonymous.
While this may limit
your options in some areas, there is
still a ton of stuff
out there.
Myth
This sounds interesting, but there's nothing
that can
really help me on the internet.
Fact
The internet can be
an amazing tool. It is a vast
information system
that can be used to find almost
anything you want to
know, if you're willing to look hard
enough.
