Shoshana has a few statements about leadership in her essay.  She asks "Will there be leaders who are able to recognize the

historical moment and the choices it presents?" (379).  Shoshana Zuboff is saying that because each country is trying to lead all

the others, that machines and technology keep increasing at a faster and faster rate.  I disagree with her.  The reason technology

keeps increasing is because everyone out there in the world today that is inventing new things, just wants to get their names in

the record books.  After they accomplish something great, a company comes along and uses their idea. It is not that the

inventor wanted them to us it, he just wanted some fame and glory, but the company themselves wanted to get a jump start

one everyone else.

    This causes many problems within business today.  Major companies are trying to take over by advancing their products.

Each company tries to make their product the best compared to what any other competitive company is offering.  They hire

some young experimenters and have them produce new things.  The problem is that the people of today are so worried about

improvements today that they forget about the future and how it might be affected.  The future is what needs to be looked at.

Bill Gates never thought about the future and this Y2k problem.  Now he has to scurry around and try to fix all of the billion

computers and each problem that they might have.  If the future is taken and put in front as the main goal, humankind will

advance together and all can get there with less problems.
