What kind of personal credibility does Bill Joy actually have? A lot really.

    Bill Joy started reading when he was 3 years old. He flew through school, excelling in mathmatics and engineering. He reads books like I eat tic-tacs. He got his undergraduate in engineering from the University of Michigan. He went to graduate school at UC Berkeley where he never finished his Ph.D because his software became so popular he had to meet those demands and was offered a job no one could turn down at Darpa. When his Unix utilities became so popular that his work at Berkeley could not contain it, he helped found Sun Microsystems where he helped develop the Personal Computer and internet (with the aid of Al Gore, of course), technologies that we all benefit from today. Just being around the advancement of computers almost from the beginning gives him credibility enough to speak on this subject. In addition, the books he reads on this subject and the intelligent, prominent people that he holds conversations with and from whom he gets his latest information just add to this man's ethos. I'm almost to the point where I'll take anything this man says as truth.
