Joy found another book entitled Robot: Mere Machine to Transcendent Mind. He found this book to support what Kaczynski was trying to argue. This material told of how superior robots would affect human life. This was related back to a day and age when dinosaurs ruled the earth. The argument of superior species dominating others was used to help us understand why robots would interfere in the lives of humans. Moravec believes that humans will eventually face extinction.
Joy also remembered a novel he had read many years ago. This book,
The White Plague, shared about a person who got his revenge by creating
a plague. This plague was able to kill extremely widely. This
got joy to thinking. He started to think about the effects of this
new technology and why it should be worse feared than new technology from
the past. The new technology, Joy tells us, can self replicate.
This poses a extremely great danger. This out-of-control replication,
could produce a whole new line of WMd (weapons of mass destruction).
The worst thing, Joy shares, is that this new line of WMD, is not hard
to develop. Unlike old WMDs that required special substances that
could not be received by the general public, these new ones only require
knowledge.
