What's more important?

Reed says:                                                                                                                         see what Joy says

This is one of Joy’s most powerful points in that he questions the nature of the human species.   He makes us question if it is in our nature to destroy ourselves.  Unlike in the development of atomic weapons,  there is no present threat to our survival except ourselves.  Joy is saying we all have the inclination to survive on an individual basis, but we don’t appear to have any concept of preservation of our species as a whole.  The answer to the question of what is more important, knowledge or survival is obviously knowledge, or else we would stop developing these technologies.  This point also illustrates LOGOS, the logical reasoning behind Joy’s argument.  The PATHOS this creates truly impacts touches our emotional appeal as humans.  Can you really live with the fact that as a species, we find it more valuable to develop technology than to survive?
