Problems with Technology
Emmanuel G. Methsene believes there are two distinct problems with technology's relation to society.  These  being taking full advantage of the possibilities it offers, and avoiding consequences which result from the exploitation of these opportunities.  The government and the media "are not yet equipped for the massive task of public education that is needed."  If we are to exploit technology more fully, many opportunities are lost because of the lack of public support due to this inadequate educaiton.

Pollution of the environment, ecological damage to our planet, occupational and social dislocation, threats being privacy and politics to many individuals, and social and psychological malaise are what he reveals as "negative externalities" or consequences of technology that are causing deep concerns at the present time.  They are so severe today because no has made it their business to anticipate these problems before they grow out of control and help to educate the public about them.

So what is the solution to all these technological problems?
Mesthene believes that more technology is the key.
